SPEAKERS

Klipsch K-horn
I finally got lucky and found a set of corner horns locally for a decent price. These are so efficient I can drive them with the monitor amp in the C32. Although they sound great, I am planning on implementing the Crites upgrade soon!

Ohm Walsh F5 Series 3
These were the top of the line models from Ohm Acoustics until Jan 8, 2009, when Ohm announced their release of their next generation of the Walsh driver, the 5000. I already owned a pair of Ohm Pro 200 Sound Cylinders, and was in the market for another pair of speakers. I auditioned many, including buying a pair of Maggies, but I wasn't satisfied until I got the F5's. It is hard to find a single soul that has something negative to say about that beautiful Ohm magic!

Ohm Walsh Pro 200 Sound Cylinder
I bought these used when I accidentally stumbled upon them returning a botched buy from one of those quick-sell online auction franchises. They had just come in, and the guy didn't want to worry about shipping them so we dealed then and there. Went there mad as a hatter, left there grinnin' ear to ear. I always loved the Ohm's (heard at a show) and was very eager to try them out. They needed some minor repair (terminals, one of the driver supports was damaged) but John Strohbeen, president, took care of me personally. They played an important role in my decision to buy the F5's (I loved them that much.)

Magnepan MG-Ic
I was looking for another set of speakers, and had also heard plenty of raves about Magnepans, so when I came across these for sale locally I jumped on it. I got them for a steal, and all that was wrong was both tweeter fuses were blown. These were the third and last run at the MG-I model. They can be bi-amped, but I am currently driving them with my Carver M-1.5t (which has plenty of power.) These are outstanding speakers, but require EXACT positioning (both the speakers, and the listener.)

Klipsch The One
I was looking for a portable Bluetooth powered speaker. Rechargeable battery. Mixing mid-century modern design, the vision of Paul W. Klipsch, and innovative technology, the Klipsch Heritage Wireless One II Tabletop Stereo offers concert-level sound for any room in the home.

Klipsch The One II
I was looking for a Bluetooth powered speaker for use with my projector. Although this one isn't battery powered, it includes phone inputs for versatility. Portable. Incorporating luxury materials such as real wood veneer and tactile spun copper switches and knobs, The One powered audio system blends the acoustics and classic design legacy of Paul W. Klipsch with the latest technologies available today.

Klipsch The Three
I was looking for a set of smaller bookshelf powered speakers for my Play-Fi system. This pair is set up as a pair with one for the left channel and one for the right. These are larger and more powerful than the Ones. Incorporating luxury materials such as real wood veneer and tactile spun copper switches and knobs, the Klipsch Heritage Wireless Three tabletop stereo system blends the acoustics and classic design legacy of Paul W. Klipsch with the latest technologies available today.

Klipsch The Sixes
I was looking for a set of larger bookshelf powered speakers for the rear channel of my main theater system. Part of the Klipsch Heritage Wireless series, The Sixes are an incredibly versatile audio system. Able to connect directly to a turntable, TV, computer, or Bluetooth® wireless-enabled device – these speakers deliver amazing acoustics no matter what source.

Klipsch Sub-12HG Synergy
I was looking for a pair of subs for the Sixes. These 12-inch down-firing subs have 300 watts RMS/650 watts peak with the BASH amplifier capable of going down to 24Hz! Absolutely house shaking!

Klipsch Sub-120
I was looking for a pair of these to complement the Threes. Forward-firing 12-inch drivers provide 200 watts of continuous power, and 400 watts peak. These go down to 20Hx, and feature the classic copper drivers with digital amplification.

Klipsch R-10SWi
For home theater, you can't beat a pair of the 10-inch front-firing, spun copper IMP driver. These are wireless and come complete with the transmitter so they can be placed anywhere. With 300 watts RMS and 600 peak, you can't beat the sound.

Klipsch Heritage Groove
If you need a portable Bluetooth speaker that lasts 8 hours on a single charge, has a built in microphone, walnut finish and excellent sound, you can't go wrong with the Heritage Groove. Built to resemble the rest of the Heritage series, this little speaker sounds great. It also has an auxiliary input for almost any application.

Klipsch KHO-7 Outdoor Speakers
I have siz of these high-output, durable, waterproof outdoor speakers for great sounding outdoor music. They have the 5.25-inch poly cone woofer and 1" silk dome Tractrix Horn tweeter. They are capable of handling 600 watts of peak power, so the outdoor sound is fantastic. They come complete with mounting brackets and a plug for keeping water out in case they are in situations where water can travel upwards into the housing. Amazing!

Quad ESL 988
I was intrigued by electrostatic speakers, and these go with my Quad system. Although they require precise toe-in for exceptional imaging, they are wonderful sounding with an open, spacious sound. They take residency in the lower level family room and are powered by the rest of the Quad system.

Avid Model 101
These were bought slightly used around 1978. They were run with the C32's low-power monitor outputs originally. They are wonderful speakers, and I was extremely impressed with the low bass despite the small 8" woofer. I think the weight, and the extra tweeters mounted on the sides of the cabinets also help with the sound these speakers produce. The woofers, despite being manufactured in '76, are still in great shape and are in no need of refoaming!

BOSE 701 Series II
These were bought in a thrift shop for a decent price. Airy sound, designed for home theater. They have a separate powered subwoofer housed inside the cabinets and are the traditional direct reflecting type speakers with mid drivers in the front and rear.
Realistic Optimus T200
These were bought new in the very early '80s with my JVC A-X4 (not at the same place, however.) I was a frequenter of my local Radio Shack and got to know one of the sales guys really well. I was looking for a pair of speakers to match my JVC and he suggested these. I got a decent amount off of sticker, IIRC, and was happy. They were power hungry (two ten inch woofers) and did not last long (foam fell apart, midranges disintegrated, and tweeters failed all before 1990.) They did sound great though and the cabinets and original drivers are still in my basement!

University L-T-D ~1962
These were bought from an estate sale, where the sellers had absolutely no information about them. From posts to groups I have been able to determine that University made high quality drivers and were bought out by L-T-D, who made Jet engines and also bought out a couple of other famous names and then discontinued them. They seem to be extremely rare, have a two-way 5" midrange and tweeter, and a separate 6" woofer. They still sound good for their age, and the C32 drives them as monitors.

Acoustic Monitor dbx-IV (White Van)
You know the story, a guy pulls up in a white van selling NIB speakers too good to be true. I was managing the business they pulled into in the late '80s and they were attempting to sell my employees as many as they could. I told him to give me a pair or I was calling the cops. Needless to say, I have a pair. I find them very, um, interesting...
